A door strike is used to provide automated or remote unlocking of a secure door. Most door strikes will fail secure, meaning when they are not energized the door remains locked. A DC powered door strike will unlock quietly with only a click. An AC powered door strike will buzz quite loudly when activated. There are a wide range of door strikes available for metal door frames, wood door frames, thin or thick frames, and various deadbolt or lock styles.
